Art and Design

Art and Design Vision Statement

We love Art at Pinfold Primary and foster and celebrate creativity in every form. We value the need for humans to express themselves and the joy that art can bring. Art can bring communities together and change the politics of the world.

We have devised a cumulative curriculum that involves learning about the classal artists from long ago who paved the way for our contemporary artists. We will study art from around the world and share in the influences, colour, textures and methods from other cultures.

We are passionate about saving our environment so we will learn about environmental art and how that can make a positive change to our world.

The National Curriculum states:

'Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.'
